Ten reasons I don’t pray:
- I’m selfish and at times I fall into the trap that I’m living my own story.
- I give worth and value to worthless and cheap distractions.
- I’m afraid.
- Because prayer has become an option among many other options.
- I lack faith.
- I judge my day by productivity and results – I don’t trust in the longevity of prayer.
- I think I need all the information when radical trust is actually a trust with absence of information.
- It’s uncomfortable.
- It’s real, and I live in a fake world.
- My desires don’t align with God’s desires.
What are some of the things that keep you from praying? Do any of these resonate with you?

Wow dude, thank you for being some transparent. I love: “It’s real, and I live in a fake world.” That’s it right there. We “perceive” prayer as the one that is not real and this world as if it’s real, when in reality it’s the other way around.
Great, great perspective. Thank you Ryan!
No, thank you Moe! You continue to model a Christ-like transparency that is both attractive and offensive. That’s a good combo.
I think 2 and 6 hit the nail on the head for me. I’m going to print this out and share it with my small group.
That’s sweet Matt. #6 is a big one for me. Today, we want instant everything and no weight is given to things that make us wait.
That list really resonates with me man. I really do not make praying a priority at times, and I also get myself with to much other things that regretfully take its place…
This list could be my own…
Except I wouldn’t have written it so wonderfully.
Oh, come on Duane! Thanks for the afirmation, but you’re a great writer. Don’t downplay your gift.
Man…this is some deep stuff…STOP IT!!!…you’re gonna make an impact on someone….and we can’t have that!!! lol…
really sobering Ryan…thanks…
